TRIACETIN - TOPICAL CREAM, SOLUTION
(try-AS-eh-tin)
USES: This medicatoin is an antifungal used on the skin to treat skin infections such as nail fungus, athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm or impetigo.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for topical use only. Clean and dry the affected area then apply as diretced. The cream and solution are usaully applied 3 times a day. Apply a small amount to the affected area and rub in gently. It may be necessary to continue treatment for several months to clear the infection. Use this medication as prescribed for the full treatment time. Do not use large amounts, apply this more often or stop using this medication without your doctor's approval. Stopping this medication too soon may lead to ineffective treatment and the infection may reoccur. Avoid contact in or near the eyes, nose, mouth or other mucous membranes.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause burning, redness or irritation the first few days as your body adjutss to the medication.
If these symptoms continue or if you experinece swelling, oozing or blistering, notify your doctor. If you notcie other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: otehr illnesses or infections, allergies (especially to antibiotics). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnacny.
Discuss the rsiks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication is found in bresat milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription mediaction you may take including: all skin products, antibiotics. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cetner or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Notify your doctor if the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes wrose after a couple of days.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the expiration date on the container and discard any expired medication.
